While you rest in the warmth of your home, there are millions children in Afghanistan shivering without even the simplest luxury—a sweater to wear.

Share Your Warmth. Help Save Lives.

Overview

The Sweater Project supplies warm clothing to Afghan children enduring severe winter conditions, whether in orphanages, camps, on the streets, or in their villages. With a $50 donation, you support a local shopkeeper, empower an Afghan woman to earn a dignified income, and provide essential warmth and comfort to a child in need.

Buy from LOCALS

We buy yarn directly from small, local shopkeepers, giving their businesses a much-needed boost. For every $50 sweater donation, these merchants can earn $10—enough to put food on the table and keep their families safe for another day. By sourcing locally, you’re helping communities rebuild with resilience and pride.

Crafted By WOMEN

In a country where many women are banned from working, this project offers a lifeline. Women and girls knit sweaters from the safety of their homes, protecting them from oppressive restrictions. For every sweater they knit, they earn $25—a dignified income that allows them to support their families. With the ability to knit 4–5 sweaters each month, they gain financial independence.

Gifted To CHILDREN

Each lovingly crafted sweater is gifted to children enduring harsh winter conditions. These vulnerable children—whether living in orphanages, remote villages, or among the 4.3 million displaced people in camps—are in desperate need of warmth and care. These sweaters don’t just fend off the cold; they remind each child that someone, somewhere, cares deeply for them.
